Print and Web Design – The Differences and Why It’s Important to Design Differently For Web Pages:

While working as a web designer, I often run across incredibly talented artists and while doing amazing work for print production, web design tried, with very little knowledge about the technology, the interaction human-computer usability, and other important aspects that distinguish the web products of printing and Graphic design.

I think the only art director’s web site should create project designs, and this should become a rule. I really hope this will soon be taught discipline in schools. So far Designer’s user interface, which are not necessarily artists. That is why we commonly look great looking web sites that are not usable or useful products that do not look good. The situation has improved recently, but many websites are being designed for print designers. And do not think this is coming to an end in the short term.

There are significant differences between design for print and the web. Printed materials can carry around and read by your target audience in a timely manner. In web design it is necessary to bear in mind that your target audience first comes to your website and then read the contents. Another difference is that the media could be carefully read in the paper. That’s much more convenient and comfortable compared with the reading of the screen.

Design a print product page completely visible right away, and the design concept can be captured by a human mind at a time. web design elements like a Web site by users of a measure that is viewing the site. Depending on several variables such as the amount of content, the Internet connection speed, screen size and resolution, etc, items sometimes important content may not be visible right away.

Another key concept for product design is the cognitive load. It refers to the load on working memory in thought. The more a person has to learn in a short period of time, the harder it is to process that information in working memory. Cognitive load is even more important for interactive products for print products. When it comes to printed material, you spend some time looking for important information. However, users spend much less time when it comes to finding specific information on a website.

Readers visually scanning printed products to find the information you want. Users read websites that use a hand when a mouse moves from one object to object. The gap between the reaction of the eye and hand movement is directly related to the cognitive load of the project: the more time a user needs to find the information you want, the heavier the cognitive load. It is easy to see that cognitive load is inversely proportional to the value of your project. That is, the longer it takes a user to find what you want, the greater the likelihood that either forget what I was doing or leaving the site.

Therefore, even nice and clean website designs that work well for printed products cannot be considered useful for web products. It is therefore very important to approach the creation of a website to know the important concepts of cognitive load, human-computer interaction, usability, design, etc. priority Print looks good. Web design should emphasize content.
